Can my child make corrections to low scores?

All corrected work from the previous week will be sent home in

the Friday Folder each Friday.  There are two exceptions to this policy.

Any test that is handed back for a parent signature is due the following day.

In math, any quiz or test needs to be made up in class the following day, the test was given back.

Anything in the Friday Folder that has less than a 70% on it can

be corrected.

The highest possible score that they can correct it for is up to

a 70%.

However, the corrections must be made by the following Tuesday

after the Friday Folder goes home.  Also, it is the students responsibility

to make corrections on the assignments that require them and also make

sure they are turned in by the following Tuesday.

Back to Top Absent Work?

Students will be given their absent work that they need to make

up when theyreturn to school.  They will be given two days to make it up for

each day they were absent.  It will be their responsibility to make sure

that their absent work is completed and turned in on time.

Back to Top Late Work or Missing Work?

If an assignment is not completed within the given time, the

student will be asked to fill out a blue slip.  This means that they lose their

lunch recess privilege until the work has been completed.  Blue slips will be

tallied throughout the week, the total will be written in the student's

Friday Folder.

Back to Top What does PHEOC stand for?

PHEOC is the scientific method we use in Science when writing our

labs.  The "P" stands for Problem, "H" is for Hypothesis, "E"

represents Experiment, "O" stands for the Observation part of the

lab, and "C" is for Conclusion.

Back to Top What is this MAPs testing that my students are taking at school? Why are they doing it three times during the school year?

MAPs stand for Measures of Academic Progress.  The test is done

on a computer, all multiple choice questions, to show a student's

individual knowledge in the fields of mathematics, reading, and

language arts.

MAPs shows a student's individual growth based off what other

students have done in the country taking the test, and how they

have improved from year to year.  The test also lets teachers use

the data to develop individual learning paths for us to take that

will be successful for each student.

The district has also purchased a program for the computers

called Compass.  This takes the scores of the students and also

develops a series of online activities and quizzes for each

student to use to help improve their score. Students can access this site at home and work on the activities.

We take the test at the beginning of the year, after winter

break, and then in the spring.  The spring is where we can see if

a student made the growth they needed to or not.
